Prof. Samir KC in Ashgabat: launching Turkmenistan’s national human capital planning system
Samir led the first mission of a UNDP Turkmenistan project with the Ministry of Education, building a national demographic and skills planning model.

Pedestrian and vehicle flow survey on New Road, KMC-22
PSR HUB trained enumerators and supported a survey at both endpoints of New Road to study pedestrian and vehicle movement by number, gender, and vehicle type.

PSR HUB supported the project “Navigating Justice: Intersectional Challenges Faced by Women with Disabilities in Lumbini Province, Nepal” through questionnaire preparation, enumerator training, data cleaning, analysis, visualization, and interpretation.

Support for National Statistics Office thematic reports
PSR HUB provided technical support for thematic reports on demographic components, including Population Projections for Nepal 2021-2051, Fertility in Nepal, and Mortality in Nepal.

Policy engagement
Discussion with Nepal Police on evidence-based analysis
PSR HUB met the Women, Children and Senior Citizen Directorate at Nepal Police Headquarters, Naxal, to present analyses of crime and demographic patterns drawn from the Demographic and Health Survey and the National Population Census, and to discuss how demographic and administrative data can support evidence-based planning within Nepal Police. A follow-up session presented a Nepal Police data mapping exercise built on information provided by the police.

Seminar and research visit
Prof. Samir KC at WorldPop, University of Southampton
Samir spent two days with WorldPop’s FuturePop team on how to project population below the national level. His seminar traced how the SSP population projections changed across the 2013, 2018 and 2023 releases. He then showed, with examples from Nepal, India and Europe, what changes when regions are projected directly rather than divided up from national totals.
